Playground Safety - Haumaru Papa Tākaro
Playground Fun with Kiri the Kiwi:
Keep a watchful eye:
Actively supervise your playmates, looking out for any signs of trouble like broken equipment, sharp edges, rusty metal, or tricky surfaces.
Be sensible and respect each other:
Let’s be sensible while we’re having fun, yeah? Teach your pals that pushing, shoving, and crowding can take away the fun. Safety and respect make for the best playground fun.
Dress for the playground:
Gear up appropriately! Choose the right attire by leaving behind necklaces, scarves, and anything with loose straps. Always wear shoes at the playground – we don’t want any cut feet or broken toes.
Age-appropriate equipment:
Certain playground equipment is suitable for different ages. Play it safe and stick to the equipment that is right for your age, height and ability.
Soft landings:
The ground beneath our feet matters. If you’re romping about with your friends, do it on sand, bark, or shredded rubber, not concrete or hard ground.
Keep an eye on your mates
Keep an eye out for your mates to prevent unexpected tumbles. We want to have fun without getting hurt.
